My take on bullet train

By From page A10 | February 16, 2014

I know we voted on it. And, I know the Democrats are still for it. And, I know big labor is for it. But, I wonder, has anyone factored out for how long and how much they will have to charge, per passenger, to make this venture pay us back? Is this not going to be a huge hole into which we will continue to pour our tax dollars and also pass on this cost to our children?

It’s late, but there are some questions I have about this project. First, who stands to profit from this project? Why are we betting on a 19th century machine to solve a 21st century problem? Why are we adding an expensive alternative to a solution we already have, with airline use, that covers way more cities than a Central Valley bullet train? Maybe money well-spent could be used by airlines, who do the job more efficiently.

I believe that this is one more boondoggle designed to enrich a few to the detriment of our many taxpayers in California.

Actually, Rod, you didn't for on this. The current plan is very much materially different from what you voted on. What is occurring now if governmental theft from the taxpayers. It's criminal and the crooks need to go to jail.
