How to fix our broken election system

By From page A8 | November 12, 2012

Election Day is over. Thank God. I don’t know how much more I could take.

How long until the next election cycle starts? How long until our politicians are campaigning and fundraising, instead of doing the hard work of the people? Isn’t everyone in the country sick to death of this?

I offer this simple solution:┬áLimit campaigning to 60 days before any election. No political advertising before this 60 days. We aren’t idiots. We can figure out our choices in this time frame.

We seem unwilling to get big money out of politics, but we can certainly give them less time to spend it. Imagine our politicians with nothing more to do than solve our country’s problems. They might actually do what we elected them to do.

Any other suggestions?
