Mr. Horvitz, putting the delineators there simply encouraged exiting drivers to run the light. The wall on the overpass prevents a clear view of oncoming traffic, so in many cases it is a guessing game for those folks that decide to pass on through. Then folks coming from Hilborn that have the green must merge into the turn lane for N. Texas St which is of course, occupied by those all ready there. Then the folks wanting to go to AM PM must cut across the shortened lanes of traffic causing another mess. I agree with you Sir, remove the delineators, restripe the intersection, replace the no turn on red sign with enforcement, and it should become a little safer.

Not only is this author absolutely Spot On about this dangerous intersection..but the other thing that was poorly designed was where the City has traffic coming north bound on North Texas St. before the left turn towards the freeway. When a motorist is coming northbound on N. Texas heading for a left hand turn going toward the freeway...he hasn't got the foggiest idea what lane to be in! When someone is approaching this intersection in front of Lowes it's so poorly marked you don't know what lane takes you straight and which one is for the freeway!..The only sign they have is covered up in the Lowe's sidewalk trees, which is unreadable because of the tree leaves.. I know the City has painted a I80 sign on the stupid asphalt as you get within a 100 feet of the light..but how are you suppose to see a pavement sign with a row of cars in front of you? Besides the painted asphalt sign is already in the Solid White line section of the lane which makes a lane change technically Illegal. Why the City didn't make a elevated sign for motorists to see coming north on North Texas is absolutely beyond me. I know a lot of people that avoid driving in this area because of the traffic nightmare! The City needs to get this fixed.
