I was surprised and disappointed to read that the mayor of Fairfield endorsed the creation of a level II trauma center in Vacaville instead of our community of Fairfield.
Having such a resource in Fairfield city limits would provide a better level of service to the citizens of Fairfield (although I hope it is a service one never has to use). Additionally, we can assume that along with the trauma center, new jobs and an economic boost would follow.
I can understand that if someone is a member of Kaiser, they may have complete satisfaction with Kaiser’s service and network, but that should not outweigh the good of the community. Perhaps a better course of action would be to not endorse either proposal. Assuming the two proposals are equivalent in terms of service and value, as a citizen of Fairfield, I would rally behind our local team.
When in Fairfield, Fairfield first.
