Recently, there was a story of a white man in Texas who punched an elderly black man. The elderly black man was seriously injured. The attacker has been charged with a federal civil rights violation because of remarks he made concerning the attack. I agree with that action by the Department of Justice.
What bothers me is that this was reported as the first civil rights charges brought in one of these knockout cases. There have been numerous cases of blacks attacking white, Hispanic and Asian victims. Some blacks were specifically attacking Jews in New York.
Why have there been no federal civil rights charges brought in these cases? Why did they wait until a white man attacked a black man? This would seem to validate what some conservatives have said about Attorney General Eric Holder, mainly, that he thinks only white people can be racists.
