Recently, Dr. Ben Carson announced that he had been audited by the Internal Revenue Service. He said, “the agents who requested a review of my real estate holdings also conducted a full audit without finding any wrongdoing.” Dr. Carson, when interviewed by The Washington Times, said, “I guess it could be a coincidence, but I never had been audited before and never really had any encounter with the IRS.”
What led to this heavy-handed action by our IRS?
Carson, a gifted, “world-renowned” pediatric neurosurgeon (now retired) at the National Prayer Breakfast in February of this year, pointed out the moral decay and fiscal irresponsibility of America in recent years. Present at this breakfast was our president to his near right.
Now we know the Obama administration has taken exception to the tax-exempt status requested for many tea party groups. Could it be true that the administration has been using the IRS as a “hit man” for any person or organization whose views do not agree with the present administration’s policies and/or ideas?
In as much as I have been speaking out about many aspects of our current administration, could I be in line for future harassment from the IRS? If so, my question is, if these facts are true, is there a case of conspiracy between the administration and the IRS against American citizens? If this is true, too, can I call the FBI and expect a vigorous investigation of infringement of my First Amendment rights?
