A Memorial Day thought

Remember that Memorial Day is for soldiers who gave their lives. If they could speak, they would tell us they are at peace, which after all is why they served – to preserve or restore peace.

In that purpose, every deceased soldier has succeeded. That’s why no soldier ever died in vain, or ever will. They would tell us they don’t feel like heroes. They would ask us to care for their loved ones – those they left behind; comrades in arms, family, especially spouses – to help them find peace here among us until they find it again together.

Thanks you, Matthew. My opinion is though that our service men and women who die in war are not at peace. I am someone who doesn't believe in an after life. Just the here and now. I sometimes wonder if our government would not be so quick to send our men and women to war if they knew that if they died they're not going to some resort in the sky. Something to think about.
