Mr. William Eugene Blancett, 71, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home in Chico.
William (Bill) was born in Pittsburg, Kan., to Jesse and Juanita Shield Blancett on Dec. 29, 1941. He attended Pittsburg High School, graduating in 1959. He went on to serve in the United States National Guard from 1961 to 1963. Bill then started a 35-year career with TransWorld Airlines (TWA) as a ground operations/store manager at San Francisco International Airport. After retiring from TWA in 2001, he remained very active in TWA writing the Tailwind Newsletter and coordinating events. Post-retirement, he worked in sales for Borges & Mahoney in Vallejo, again retiring in 2011. Mr. Blancett lived in Fairfield from 1972 to 2011.
Mr. Blancett enjoyed traveling, flying, fishing, biking and spending time with his family. He was also an avid collector of TWA memorabilia, which will be donated in his honor to the TWA Museum.
Bill is survived by his sister, Brenda Blancett (Robert) Mishmash; and his brother, Glen (Nancy) Blancett, of Pittsburg, Kan.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by his daughter, Cynthia Blancett; and four grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Regina Blancett; parents, Jesse and Juanita; and two brothers, Marvin and Paul Blancett.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Bill’s many friends from all over the United States and abroad for their prayers and support.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Calvary Chapel Solano County, 1180 Western St. in Fairfield.
Mr. Blancett’s final resting place will be at The Garden of Memories in Pittsburg, Kan., next to his family, on Sept. 7, 2013.
