William “Bill” R. Brudney, 77, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born to David and Bette Brudney on Sept. 13, 1935, and was a lifelong native of the Bay Area. He grew up in Berkeley and lived in Clayton/Concord for the last 50 years of his life. He received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from San Francisco State University and served our country in the U.S. Army. Bill was the Associate Director of Leisure Services for the City of Concord for 27 years and then spent the last 22 years of his life in the golf profession. He enjoyed being an official/referee of various high school sports for more than 50 years and was a lifelong fan of the Giants, 49ers and the Cal Bears.
Bill had an amazing life. He met the love of his life, Loretta Brudney, at SF State. They had an amazing 51 years together, singing, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Bill was a great father to Susan and Robert and never missed their sporting events and was often their coach. Bill was also a dedicated brother to David, brother-in-law to Karen and father-in-law to Julie. The thing Bill cherished the most was being a grandfather to Hannah and Chloe. He was truly blessed with an amazing amount of love from friends and family who will miss him dearly.
At his request, private services will be held. His remains will be placed at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, Dixon, CA in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Bruns House, 2849 Miranda Ave., Alamo, CA.
