Wayne Norman Sandoe, 65, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, California. He was a 15-year resident of Fairfield.

Wayne was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the son of Norman and Mary Jane (Blowers) Sandoe.

Wayne was raised in Beaver Falls until he joined the United States Air Force in 1964. He served our country until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1984. He enjoyed vintage cars, antiques, needle crafts, woodworking and music. He was a lifelong, loyal Pittsburg Steelers fan and an avid traveler who was eager to try new adventures.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Stacey Sandoe of Vacaville; two granddaughters, Jordan Allen of Sonoma State University and Cassidy Allen of Vacaville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Sandoe.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield. Interment will be private at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon. Donations may be made to the Veterans Home of Yountville, or the American Cancer Society.

    Your choice of "America the Beautiful" for Eddie Higgins' departure statement was lovely. Old-fashioned patriotism cloaked in sophisticated harmonies... sort of a Chicago version of Ray Charles' same sentiment. And at the close of the video, Higgins acknowledges someone off camera with a smile and his right hand forming a pistol, his thumb the hammer, as he "shoots" a greeting. Perfect.
