Walter Cross

March 6, 1947 — Jan. 31, 2014

Walter James “Buck” Cross, 66, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at his residence in Mesquite, Nev., after an 18-month battle with brain cancer.

He was born March 6, 1947, in Plattsburg, N.Y., to Austin and Shirley Cross. He married Theresa L Ahrens on April 28, 2005, in Mesquite, Nev.

Buck treasured the memories of his childhood summers spent at Lake Champlain with his family and cousins. After graduating high school, he attended the Southern Connecticut State University for four years. He retired in 2006 after 30 years as a manager at the Anheuser-Busch brewery plant. Buck loved to entertain people, cooking and baking. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports, shooting, sporting clays and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa L. Cross of Mesquite, Nev; brother, Stephen (Jane Ann) Cross of Bethlehem, Conn.; sister, Cindy (Carl) Herb of Naugatuck, Conn.; nieces, Casey Jo (Douglas), Anctil, Jamie (Brian) DeRosa and Caitlin Cross; and nephew, Christian (Lisa) Herb. He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Cross.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to St. Jude Hospital.
