TTresser

Sept. 17, 1939 — Jan. 4, 2013

Tom passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Jan. 4, 2013, at Fairview Comfort Home, with his family at his side. His family wished to recognize the excellent care he received while there, especially by Rose, Hermes and Pat.

Tom was born at his grandmother’s house in San Mateo, Calif. He was raised in San Mateo, where he graduated from San Mateo High School. Later, Tom met his wife of 47 years, Patricia Zook, at San Jose State University. Tom and Pat were married in February 1965. Tom served in the Air Force at Travis Air Force Base during the early 1960s, where he was trained in computer software programming. Tom eventually earned his bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State University in computer science. Tom worked for Solano County, Solano Community College and Lautze & Lautze accountancy. Tom ended his career teaching at Contra Costa Community College. In his retirement, Tom enjoyed traveling, including trips to Europe and Asia. His favorite trip was a photographic safari to Africa.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Eric (Jennifer) and Troy; granddaughters, Melanie and Noelle; as well as brothers, Carl (Joanne) and Jim (Marlene); sister Cary (Bob); brother-in-law, Jay; their extended families and his in-laws in the Zook family. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ruth; and sister Christine.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts for Tom can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice.
