May 17, 1935 — Nov. 19, 2012

Shirley Anne Stacy (Gublo) (Saunders) left us to join God in heaven on Nov. 19, 2012. Shirley lived in Fairfield for over 20 years and was an avid volunteer for IHSS Public Authority Advisory Council, Solano Transportation Authority, Fairfield Suisun Community Action Council, CICA, and was active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She worked part-time for the Fairfield-Suisun School District and for Solano Superintendent of Schools. Shirley was a passionate advocate for people with disabilities.

She was survived by two of her four children, William W. Saunders, Jr. of Bedford, Massachusetts and Paul A. Saunders of Lockwood, New York; and was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Saunders and son Joseph Saunders, Sr. and parents, Walter Gublo and Sophie Dorothy (Burke) Gublo.

Shirley had a sweet spirit and she will be truly missed by her friends and colleagues.

Mass will be said in her name on Dec. 3 2012, at Holy Spirit Church, 1050 N. Texas Street, Fairfield, CA, at 10:30 a.m., with a small reception afterwards. Arrangements under the direction of Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield. 707-425-1041.
