Samuel (Sam) Batista, Jr., age 38, passed away on Oct. 31, 2012, in Phoenix, Arizona. Sam was born in Landstuhl Army Hospital Germany on Oct. 30, 1974. Sam is survived by his wife, Laura Batista; daughter, Devon; parents, Sam and Luz; and sister, Dilia; and grandmother, Luz M. Batista and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sam graduated from Armijo High School in 1992 in Fairfield, Calif. Sam later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated from The Arts Institute of Arizona in 1994 with an A.A. Degree. He used his talents, strived for learning and dedication over the years to become a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist.

A memorial service will be held at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, Calif., on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m. After, services will be held in the 2121 Granada Drive Trailer Courts, Fairfield, Calif., located off of Air Base Parkway and Walters Road on E. Tabor Avenue.

Sam was an avid mountain bike rider and loved riding his mountain bike on Trail 100 in Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Sam may be made to the City of Phoenix, Parks & Recreation Dept., Attn: Ken Vonderscher, 200 W. Washington St., 16th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
