Roland Jennings Sr. was born in Camp Hill, Alabama, and raised in Atlanta, Ga. Roland passed away peacefully in his home after a brief illness. Roland Jennings Sr. served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and 20 years as a California Department of Corrections Peace Officer. He was an avid reader and attended the University of Maryland and the University of Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Masonic Order of Masons, and for the last 10 years, he was an honorable member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Sacramento Chapter. He loved the history, benevolence and camaraderie of the Buffalo Soldiers. Roland was most proud of his family. He met Claudette Taggart in high school. Their marriage was blessed with 4 sons and 1 daughter. Roland is survived by: Roland and Takako Jennings of Santa Maria, CA, Andre Jennings of New York, Jeffrey and Cynthia Jennings of Vacaville, CA., Brian Jennings of Menlo Park, CA.; and he was preceded in death by Colete Jennings. Roland was also blessed with two other children, Verela Lin Jennings of Red Rock, Texas, and Charles Slaughter of Atlanta, Ga. Roland has six grandchildren, Kamaria, Alexcia, and Natajia Jennings of Vacaville, Kian and Brian Jennings-Johnson of Virginia, and Izayah Jennings of Texas. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Arbe and Lillie Mae Jennings of Atlanta.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at 10 a.m., Milton Carpenter Funeral Home,569 N. First Street, Dixon, CA.

Internment will be Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA., followed by a repast at The Veteran Hall, 1305 N. First Street, Dixon, CA.
