Surrounded by his loving family, Robert Kenneth Arnold’s journey on Earth ended peacefully in Willits, Calif., on Wednesday June 25, 2014, at 8:38 p.m. from a sudden illness. He was 47 years old.

Robert was born in San Diego, Calif., to Kenneth and Peggy Hardy. He arrived in Fairfield, Calif., in the summer of 1967 as the son of Deane and Ada Arnold. He later met and married Leslie Waddell and had a son, Michael Deane Arnold, who was always the light of his father’s eye.

Robert resided in Fairfield most of his life. He graduated from Armijo Adult School before attending classes at Sacramento State University. Following college, Robert join the IBEW Local 180. He thrived in the training and when he completed the program in 1998, he was named apprentice of the year. He worked as an electrician for 22 years.

Robert’s interests included the San Francisco Giants, playing games with his son, Mike, barbecuing fat steaks, enjoying good music, shooting guns and other outdoor adventures.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie; son, Michael; mother, Ada Arnold of Vallejo; sister, Roberta (Stanton) Nichols of Fairfield; brother, Kenneth (Kathleen) Hardy of Dixon; sisters, Shawna Ballance and Jessica Hooper; stepdaughters, Erin (Terry) Paiva of Vallejo and Alyce (Jonathan) Dumke of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-granddaughter, Xaria Paiva; aunt, Georgia Shiflett of Fairfield.; uncles, Jack (Dorothy) Lewis of Vallejo and  Dalton Lewis; brothers-in-law, Steve and Doug Gibson, Alan Waddell, Pat Pearson and Bill Jones.; sisters-in-law, Leanne Pearson, Teresa Jones and Judy Cloud.; nieces, Venessa Gonzalez, Cara Jones, Brittany Pearson, Rachel and Trish Gibson, Angela and Jessica Gibson, Emerald Gibson, and Melissa Hardy.; nephews, Carl, Curtis and Steven Jones, Patrick and David Pearson, Steven Gibson Jr., Aidan Gibson, Ken and Ryan Lindley and Mike Patterson.; numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving father, Deane Arnold; uncle, Roy Lewis; mother-in-law Harriet Waddell; father-in-law, Forrest Robert “Bob” Waddell; brother-in-law, Stan Gibson.

Robert was a fun-loving man. He had many friends who he enjoyed spending time with. We were fortunate to have had him in our lives. He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday July, 6, 2014, at the home of Pat and Leanne Pearson, 4458 Solano Road, Fairfield, Calif., 94533.
