Robert Dale Myers Sr., 76, went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.
Robert served more than 22 years in the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he completed two tours and earned several honorary medals. After his retirement from the Navy, Robert held instructor and executive-level positions in the high-tech educational field. He also owned and operated a window art company, R&J Design, where he adorned many Northern California restaurants, gyms, supermarkets and other businesses with his creative characters and art.
Robert also hosted many Texas Hold ’em poker tournaments and worked at the front entrance gate at Travis Air Force Base for more than five years, where he met many new friends who endearingly nicknamed him “senior chief.”
Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Judith Ann Myers; children, Maureen Ann (Anthony) Monterosso, of San Jose, Calif., Susan Elizabeth Myers, of Sacramento, Robert Dale (Conni) Myers Jr., of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and James Charleson Myers, of Sacramento. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Garrett, Donovan, Tommy, Justin, Kierstin, Jace, Brady and Seamus; many nieces, nephews, additional family members and friends, all who will terribly miss his caring, loving and hilarious sense of humor.
A rosary will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Chapel, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif. A Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send donations in his honor to Robert’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
