Bobby Ramirez, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug 22, 2012, with his family at his side after a long battle with cancer.
Bobby was born on Sept. 23, 1938, in Portola, Calif., to Edward and Maria Soledad Ramirez.
He grew up in Suisun Valley and stayed in the area his whole life. He loved the valley and shared stories about growing up there, and the friends that he had from the valley that he loved.
Bobby was a nature lover, who loved to hike and walk every day up at Lagoon Valley Park with his dog, Nitro. He was very knowledgeable about every inch of the park and had walked every trail over the years. It was there, in the past few years, that he met some amazing friends that he cherished.
He worked for Wooden Valley Winery and as a tile layer as a young man. He started working for SID in 1961 as a laborer on a temporary basis but later that year he was hired full-time. He retired from SID in 2001 after 40 years of service, the first employee in the history of SID to work there 40 years. He was a very hard-working man, who expected no less from his employees than he would give himself.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Joanne), Mike, Laura (Tony), Adrienne (Richard) and Mara; 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Robby, Ryan, Heather, Atherlee, Taylor, Somer, Erica, Greg, Britney, Alexandra and Rianna and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert and Richard and their families and a million nieces and nephews.
Bobby was preceded in death by both his parents, Edward and Maria Soledad; his brothers, Ernie, Rudy, and twins Ronald and Donald.
A celebration of life will be held at Three Oaks Community Center on Saturday, September 8, 2012, from noon to 3 p.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northbay Hospice at NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, 4500 Business Center Drive, Fairfield, CA 94534.
