Rick Luna

May 26, 1944 — March 22, 2014

It is with much sadness but with a great deal of love and respect that we announce the passing of Richard “Rick” Luna at Kaiser Vacaville on March 22, 2014, after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, while surrounded by family and friends.

Rick worked as a court reporter for Contra Costa County for 34 years before retiring in 2006. Rick was the perfect definition of a great husband, father and Papa. He will be remembered for his great smile, laugh and quick wit.

Rick was married for 48 years to the love of his life, June. His greatest joy was certainly his family, who always came first. Rick enjoyed nothing more than doing projects with his daughter, attending his grandsons’ sporting events and sharing in their accomplishments, traveling, camping and working in his gorgeous yard.

Rick is survived by his wife, June; daughter, Denise Matlock (Jeff); grandsons, Zak and Tyler; and sister, Sandy Anderson; along with many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Vada Luna.

Rick will be remembered as a “true family man.” He will forever be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Ulatis Cultural/Community Center, 1000 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville, Calif. 95687. Rick requested casual attire be worn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, Ill. 60611.
