Ralph Leroy Helms Jr. passed away at his home Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Vacaville, Calif.

He was born June 18, 1947, in Pekin, Ill., and has been a resident of California for 32 years. Ralph enjoyed the outdoors to include fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a loyal family man who held strong to his Italian heritage. Ralph was a longtime ship fitter at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and after retirement shared his knowledge working at Home Depot.

Survivors include his wife, Alison; daughter, Julie and husband Kevin Yost; son, Jason Helms; stepchildren, Elizabeth and Wyatt Holloway; mother, Adele Trettenero; grandchildren, Miranda Rodriguez, Jordyn and Joseph Helms; as well as many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 10, 2014, at Rush Ranch in Suisun City, Calif. Celebrating Ralph’s love of the outdoors, the family invites you to join them in this celebration by coming dressed in your best camouflage or outdoor attire.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family for its service/support of the Rush Ranch Solano Land Trust.
