Nora E. Peak passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville, Calif., Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, on her 94th birthday.

Nora was born Nora Esther Hauser in Turlock  in 1920 and spent all of her life in California. She married Sergeant Lee Peak in San Diego in 1943. She followed him to Vallejo and then American Canyon as he worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Nora and Lee were active in the Catholic Church, particularly Holy Family Parish in American Canyon. For the past two years, Nora was a resident of Fairfield at Emeritus Rancho Solano. Although the basic facts of Nora’s life are simple, she was remarkable for her constant compassion and service to others – taking care of family and friends. As such, she has a large circle of family and friends who admire and love her.

Nora was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Oral Lee Peak. She is survived by all five of her children, Dana (Charlie) Bialowas of Fullerton, Calif., Lee Joseph Peak of American Canyon, Calif., Daniel (Sue) Peak of Canyon Country, Calif., Anne (Mike) Berryessa of Fairfield, Calif., and Catherine (Jay) Norvell of Davis, Calif. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren in California, Nebraska, Utah, Missouri and New Jersey.

Private family services will be held at a later date and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in the name of Nora Peak to Habitat for Humanity.

Cremation and arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo, 707-552-6696.
