Merle Edward Lindstrom, 81, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, surrounded by his family at his home in Fairfield.
Merle was born June 13, 1931, in Stockton, California. He spent his early childhood in Oakdale before moving to Oakland where he graduated from Oakland Technical High School.
He then joined the Air Force and was stationed in North Dakota and Nevada. Following his discharge, he joined the teamsters and began his long career as a truck driver ending with his retirement from Lucky Distribution Center in Vacaville after 20 years of service.
Merle loved to travel and also enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, furniture restoration, fishing and garage sales.
Merle will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He never missed the opportunity to play a good practical joke.
Merle is survived by his wife, Chris Lindstrom of Fairfield, daughters Deborah Lindstrom (Tom) of New York City, Lori Lindstrom of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Michele Morfidis (Peter) of Fairfield. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Alexandra of Gig Harbor and Irene and Eleni, both of Fairfield.
A memorial celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
