March 21, 1925 — May 14, 2014

Melba Dean Ehle, a resident of Fairfield, Calif., for more than 60 years, peacefully passed away in her sleep at her home on May 12, 2014. She was 89 years.

She was born in Fort Smith, Ark., on March 21, 1925 to Benjamin and Hattie Selph, one of nine children. She finished school in Fort Smith, Ark. Her first job was working at Fort Chaffee, Ark., where she met her future husband, Michael Ehle. They married on Oct. 16, 1943. While living in Arkansas, they welcomed their daughter Kitty in 1946. They then moved to Louisville, Ky., to be near Michael’s family and in 1950, their son Michael Jr. was born.

In June 1950, they moved out to California and settled in the Bay Area and then in February 1954, they made their final move to Fairfield.

Melba loved playing cards, cooking, traveling with her grandchildren, going to Colusa, having family barbecues and playing bingo at the Fairfield Senior Center. We are all very blessed that she was able to attend the First Holy Communion of three of her great-grandchildren on May 3, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Kitty Resch (Richard Resch) of Carmichael, Calif.;  son, Mike Ehle, Fairfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Nicole of Sacramento, Calif., Angela of Fairfield, Calif., Christina of Vacaville, Calif., Josh of Monterey, Calif., Elizabeth of Sacramento, Calif.;  great-grandchildren, Hudson, Holden, Havana, Hattie, Holland, Cora, Drew, Harlan, Jace and Hope; brothers, Tom Selph (Sally) of Foster City, Calif., Dewey Selph (Marie) of San Mateo, Calif.;  brother-in-law, Jack Ehle (Darlene) of Louisville, Ky; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Michael Ehle.

That cute and witty personality she had will be missed by all! You will always be in our hearts.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West Texas Street, Fairfield, Calif. A lunch celebrating Melba’s life will be held immediately after in the courtyard of the funeral home. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road Dixon, Calif. 95620.

Arrangements under the care of Bryan-Braker, www.bryanbraker.com.
