Martin Charles Laforet of Suisun City passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013.
Martin was born to Martin and Jewel Laforet of Redwood Valley. Martin interrupted his studies at UC Berkeley to join the United States Army Air Force in 1942. He achieved the rank of captain and piloted a B-26 Marauder. Following WWII, Martin graduated from UC Berkeley and began his accounting and auditing career. After working in San Francisco for over 20 years, he became a supervisor in the Solano County Auditor-Controller’s Office until his retirement in 1984.
Martin married his wife Helen in 1952. She was his devoted wife for more than 60 years until her death in March. Martin was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather with a good sense of humor. His family could always count on him for his help and advice.
Martin is survived by his children, Stephen, Anne, Jeanne, and Lisa (Bob); grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Matt (Brianna), and Robert; sisters, Edith, Marie, and Florence, and many loving nieces and nephews. Martin was preceded in death by his wife Helen; parents; and sister, Catherine. A service for Martin will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, 448-6546.
