Maria Conceicao Gullock-Tomasini was born Nov. 28, 1925, to John and Maria Freitas in Madera Island, Portugal. She passed away at her Napa residence on May 25, 2014.

She was a homemaker while her children were young, then went to work for U.S. Eagle for many years before starting her own business for 10 years and retiring at the age of 70. Her hobbies included gardening, gardening and gardening as anyone who has visited her home can attest. She had a great love for flowers and plants.

Maria married Donald Gullock on Feb. 12, 1950. They move to their home in Napa in 1952. They were married for 42 years. She married Douglas Tomasini April 23, 1994, and they were married 20 years.

Surviving Maria is her husband, Douglas of Napa; children, Michelle Johnson and her husband Ken of Gig Harbor, Wash., Sheryl Bartholomew and her husband Arthur of Turlock, Calif., Donna Alcantara and her husband Jim of Fairfield, Calif., and Douglas Tomasini and his partner Aston Ward of Fallbrook, Calif.; siblings, John Freitas of Crockett and Gabriella Keeton of Napa; grandchildren, Marc, Ericka, Katie and Matthew, of Gig Harbor, Wash., Nick of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Kyle of Turlock, Calif.,  Jessika and Bryan of Fairfield; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her caregivers Aida and Lee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph deFreitas, formerly of Vallejo.

Per Marie’s request, no formal services will be held, but the family will be having a celebration of her life at her residence from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday June 7, 2014.  All are encouraged to stop by and visit.
