Lorae passed away from natural causes on Feb. 22, 2014. She was born in Coalinga, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1929.

She graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1947 and continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was in the first graduating class from Kaiser Permanente Nursing School.

Lorae was a captain in the United States Air Force and served proudly until she resigned her commission to be a wife and mother. She worked for many years at Mt. Diablo Hospital in Concord, Calif., and later for Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, Calif.

Lorae had a love of traveling and was fortunate to be able to travel to many countries. She was especially fond of Ireland. Lorae was an avid reader and did a lot of research to be able to trace her family tree back numerous generations. She was a gardener with one of the greenest thumbs around but most of all she loved her family and her dog, Clancy, who was always at her side.

Lorae is survived by her children, Robin Hudson, Michelle (Jerry) Coleman and Chris (Lydia) Hudson; grandchildren, Travis, Stephen, Daniel, Sarah, Christopher “CJ” and Michele “Mimi”; great-grandchildren, Jovan, Jacob and Hailey; sisters, Dee (Howard) Folkman and Sunny Grammont; and a host of family and friends.

Lorae was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lolita Grammont.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Feb. 27, 2014, at Vaca Hills Chapel 524 Elmira Road Vacaville, Calif. She will be laid to rest following the service at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road Dixon, Calif., 95620.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society.

The family of Lorae Hudson wishes to thank all the friends who have shown their love and support during this time.
