Lillian Mae Ikerd passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Hughson, Mrs. Ikerd was raised in Modesto. She had been living in Fairfield with her daughter when she passed. She died peacefully with her daughter at her side.
Her entire working career was with the title insurance industry retiring from Steward Title Company. Her retirement focus was on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the epitome of a grandmother caring for her grandchildren above all else. Before her husband passed, she loved to travel with him to many strange and wonderful places. Stray animals always had a place in her home as her love for dogs and cats was only exceeded by her love and devotion to the grandchildren and her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Suzette Clement (Lawrence) of Fairfield and Sandra Cramer (John) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Laura Clement-Dierssen, Douglas Clement, Timothy Clement, Nicholas Cramer and Theodore Cramer; nine great-grandchildren, Kara Dierssen, Evan Dierssen, Chase Clement, Victoria Clement, Caila West-McNeil, Kevin West, Marcus Cramer, Niall Cramer and Duncan Cramer; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tristan and Freya McNeil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merville Ikerd; and her grandson, Benjamin Cramer.
A Holy Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Salas Brother Funeral Home on Scenic Drive in Modesto. At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on 7th and J Street in Modesto. Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park on Main Street.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be sent to North Bay Hospice Foundation in Fairfield or to the Fairfield Senior Adult Day Care Center.
