Leroy moved to Fairfield, Calif., with his family in the mid-1960s after retiring from the United States Navy after 20-plus years of dedicated service.
While in the service, he met his wife of 57 years in Okinawa, Japan (Hisako “Kay” Eubanks, who passed two years ago). A true love of his life.
After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Leroy went to work for the U.S. civil service for 20 years and retired in 1989.
Leroy lived, loved and laughed throughout his life, helping many of his family, friends and people along the way. He was a very social, caring person and loved good conversation.
Leroy enjoyed watching his baseball, football, NASCAR and western movies, especially John Wayne. He would rarely miss a game when his favorite team was playing. He loved his recreation with family and friends, his cars, cats, dogs and just getting out and about doing things. And he was always on the phone talking to family and friends when at home. He was always there for many of us and will be surely missed by all of us!
Leroy is survived by his son, Roy Eubanks; sisters, Virginia (Tom) Martinez aka “Sissie or Gina” and Marilyn Gonzales aka “Micky”; his wife’s sister, Mitsuko Bauer aka “Shorty”; nephews, Tommy Joe Diehl, Robert Tom, aka “best friend or sidekick” and Leroy Bates, aka “Author”; nieces, Sarana Bales, Summer Moore Clawson, Robin (Tom) Wier, Kimberly Huyck and Sunny Lane Vallero; and many more relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be provided by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif. 94533. Leroy’s request was to be cremated and then rest at sea with his beloved wife Kay.
