Karen Alverado

Feb. 1, 1966 — Jan 18, 2014

Karen passed away at her home in Suisun City, Calif., on Jan. 18, 2014, at the age of 47.

Karen was born in Bakersfield, Calif., and moved to the Fairfield-Suisun area in 1969. She attended Fairfield schools and graduated from Fairfield High School and Kenneth’s Beauty College in 1984. She was the owner/stylist of Cuts Unlimited in Suisun City from 1985 to 1994. It closed after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1993. Karen was the M.S. coordinator of the yearly M.S. charity walk in the Fairfield-Suisun area for 10 years.

In 2008, Karen was diagnosed with melanoma-type cancer. She fought very hard with the cancer until it took her life.

Karen is survived by her husband of 27 years, Steve; daughter, Lindsey; son, Bradon; and her parents, Jean and Jack Blake.

At Karen’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.

I was very saddened to learn the Angels came to take Karen to Heaven in the prime of her life. My sincere condolences to the Alvarado and Blake families with the loss of a loving wife, mother and daughter.
