June 5, 1972 — Jan. 31, 2014

On Jan. 31, 2014, Juan David Luna (our beloved and special son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and cherished friend) died in Oceanside, Calif.

During his life, David touched the lives of countless friends, family and strangers with his selfless kindness, his respect for others, his genuine love and his fearless zest for limitless exploration of the mind and heart. Everyone that knew David has a story of how he personally touched their hearts and lives. He was passionate about music and written word and enjoyed a good “nine holes at twilight.”

Following his completion of high school in Vacaville, Calif., where he made lifelong friendships, David proudly and courageously served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He shared many stories about his time in the military, including his travels abroad to Panama and Egypt.

His mother, Irene Luna, preceded David in death. His father, Luis Luna Sr., survives him, as well as his siblings, Luis Luna Jr., DeAna Glaser and Inez Elgie, as well as his eight nieces and nephews.

A semiprivate funeral service has been planned for March 1, 2014, in Encinitas, Calif.

In memory of David, please consider making donations to the Wounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
