Joseph M. “Joe” Rowan, Master Sgt., United States Air Force (Retired) went home to be with the Lord after a short illness Aug. 5, 2013, in Roseville. As a servant of Jesus, Joe faithfully served his family, country, and the Solano County retired military population with dedication and love. All in all, Joe spent 70 years of his life in service to others.
After service in World War II, Joe went on to work for the railroad, served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as an air reserve technician at Hamilton Field and Travis AFB. His most recent service was as the director of the Travis AFB Retiree Activities Office (RAO) which spanned a period of 24 years of volunteer service. Known to all as tirelessly energetic, Joe brought an indomitable spirit of enthusiasm to everything he did. His colleagues at Travis AFB will miss him, but Joe has left an indelible impression which will continue to inspire.
Joe is survived by his wife, Maria; stepsons, Joe and Fred Cabrera; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
