Jeffrey Lee Irwin, 63, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis AFB.

Jeffrey was born on May 11, 1951, in Indiana to Ralph Vern and Betty Jean Irwin.

On Sept. 11, 1972, Jeffrey married Norma Ibanez in Olongapo City, Philippines.

Jeffrey was retired from the United States Navy, where he served a full career of 20 years as a boatswain’s mate and a master at arms. He was proud of his career in the Navy and served on multiple ships, including the U.S.S. Carl Vinson and the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.

Jeffrey enjoyed reading, especially western-themed stories, and playing poker with his son-in-laws and extended family. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Irwin of Suisun City; son, Steven (Leyna) Irwin; daughters, Betty (Vince) Clack, Sue (Ken) Hurlburt and Ritchel (Michael) Barrett, all of California; brothers, Tim (Kathy) Irwin and Ralph (Linda), all of Indiana; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty; sisters, Nancy Kay, June and Sue; brother, Patrick.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Calif. 95620.
