Jane Preston

 Sept. 20, 1926 — Jan. 17, 2014

Jane W. Preston passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, Calif.

Jane was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., raised in Elmira, N.Y., and graduated from Southside High School in 1944. She married Colburn A. Preston in October 1945. The United States Air Force brought them to Travis Air Force Base in 1953. In 1957, they started Preston’s Home Furnishings in Fairfield, Calif.

Jane had a natural talent for interior design and a great eye for detail. In addition to running the business and interior design, Jane loved architecture, cooking, gardening and her cats.

Jane is survived by daughters, Linda, Margaret (Tom); sons, David (Tina), Andrew (Maryann); sister, Helen Marie Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colburn; and daughter, Elizabeth.

A private service will be held by her family.
