James Silvio Petti, born in Newark, N.J., the youngest of seven siblings of parents who immigrated from southern Italy in the early 1900s, died peacefully in his sleep the morning of Dec. 26, 2013.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha; and son, James Petti, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Bruno; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was an active member of the Shriners, the Jesters, the Sons of Italy, the Elk’s Club, the Moose Lodge and many more. He spent most of his life living and working in the Bay Area. He was a professional real estate broker for over 25 years, working with his wife and partner, Martha, under the name of “Petty Realty” in South San Francisco, Calif.
He always claimed his secret to living nearly 100 years was to wake up every day with a smile and having the ability to see the bright side of every situation. He will be greatly missed in the lives of all family members and friends.
Please join us in celebrating his life and his contribution to all our lives. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Holy Spirit Church, 1050 North Texas St., Fairfield, Calif., with reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Sacramento (donation envelopes will be available at the service).
Let’s all try to remember and embrace his secret to a long and happy life . . . “just keep smiling.”
