Irene Marty passed away suddenly on Friday, July 25, 2014, at home. She was 88.

A longtime resident of Cordelia, she was born July 8, 1926, in Eupel (present-day Niederhövels), Germany, to Ferdinand and Klara (Röcher) Richter. Irene emigrated to the United States in 1957.

She loved traveling, playing bingo at the senior center, shopping, crocheting, gardening and pinochle. She worked as a caregiver in her later years. Her family and many friends cherished her boundless energy, sense of humor and love of life.

She is survived by her brother, Adolf Richter, of Hamm an der Sieg, Germany; daughter, Marion (Thomas) Ambrose, of Fairfield; granddaughter, Rachel Ambrose, of Sebastopol; grandson, Christian Ambrose; great-granddaughter, Hanna Bender, of Sebastopol; and many nieces and nephews, both in Germany and the United States.

She is preceded in death by her longtime companion, Tom Wells; her brothers, Karl and Heinrich Richter; and her sisters Elisabeth Schütz and Ilse Richter.

A visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Internment will be at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield, Calif.

    Irene Marty was my good friend...she loved going to the Senior Center to play pinochle and socialize with her friends. She was such a special person, always happy and up beat...I will miss her very much Rest in Heavenly peace dear lady i will see you when we meet again in Heaven.
