Golden B. (Bernie) Norris was born on April 28, 1934, in Washington, D.C., to Brennan and Lula Estelle Norris. He was the youngest of seven siblings. He died on March 14, 2013, at home in the arms of his wife and surrounded by family.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served in Korea during the war. After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked on the flight line at Travis Air Force Base until his retirement.
Bernie had many interests and hobbies over the years, but he especially enjoyed bowling, golf, duck hunting, softball, gardening, playing his guitar and frequent trips to Reno.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Neal Williams of Burson, Calif., Dana Leigh and Brian Faddis of Ballwin, Mo.; and son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Christina of Danville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Bernard; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Dolores Tamba; and three brothers.
At his request, no public services are planned. He will be interred at the Fairmont Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Holy Spirit Church, 1050 N. Texas St., Fairfield, CA 94533-0624.
