Gloria Donnelly of Rio Vista passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. She was 81. Born Nov. 30, 1931, Gloria was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to the late Eugene Romoli and Doris Adams. After the death of her husband, Robert Donnelly, who was stationed at Mare Island Naval Base in Vallejo, Gloria attended Solano Community College where she began an extended relationship with her lifelong companion Roberto Rosa Miranda, who was at her bedside when she died.
Gloria and Roberto, lovingly nicknamed “Rosie,” moved to Rio Vista in 1979 and made many close friends. Outgoing and friendly, the two were always together, laughing, gently joking and teasing with friends and acquaintances. Gloria was full of love and concern for others and was always quick to smile. Happy by nature, she cultivated love in everyone she met. As proof of her amiable nature and generous spirit, a Fairfield paramedic, who met Gloria for the first time a few days before her death, was heard saying, “that is one sweet lady.”
She had three siblings, her half-brother, Russel Adams; her brother, Charles Romoli; and her beloved sister, Ruth.
Survivors include her brother; Charles Romoli; Rosie; and her five children, Patricia Fox, Robert Donnelly, Mike Donnelly, Carol Martin, and Rick Donnelly.
The family would like to offer a fond thanks to the doctors and nurses at David Grant Medical Center and the Fairfield Acute Rehab facility who helped make these sad times more comfortable for us all. The funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield. For more information please contact Bryan-Braker Funeral Home 425-4697.
