Gerald Paul (Jerry) Horst was born Jan. 16, 1959, to Walter and Penny Horst in Fairfield. He attended local schools and graduated from Armijo High School. After graduating from high school, Jerry moved to Portland, Ore., where he lived for several years. Jerry returned to Calif. and moved to Clearlake where he worked in the gold mines for several years before transferring to the gold mines in Winnemucca, Nev. Jerry worked in Winnemucca for the Newmont mines for 17 years, recently as a control room supervisor. While living in Winnemucca, Jerry met and married his wife of eight years, Emelita. Jerry passed away at home unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Emelita; sons, Joey (Christina) of Clearlake, Sam of Ukiah; mother, Penny Horst of Pahrump, Nev.; brothers and sisters, Sharyn Metzger (Greg) of Dixon, Gene Horst (Sally) of Vacaville, Tony Horst (Mary) of Portland, Ore., Colleen Zimmerman (Scott) of Montana, Jim Horst (Angie) of Portland, Ore.; one granddaughter, Riley of Clearlake; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Walter G. Horst.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
