Ferdinand Erig Scharff, 91, died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born November 4, 1921, in Agana, Guam, the second of eight children born to George and Antonia Toves Flores Scharff.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Isabel Quenga Scharff; parents, George and Antonia T. F. Scharff; son, George Scharff; daughter, Teresita Q. Fejerang; granddaughter, Jennifer Scharff; sister-in-law, Basilisa Quenga; and brother-in-law, Jesus A. Quenga.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Erig and Terri Scharff, Anthony and Bading Scharff; daughter and son-in-law, Maria (Babyta) and Jesus Salas; sister, Dora Williams; daughter-in-law, Carmen Cruz; son-in-law, Freddie Fejerang; and sister-in-law, Rose A. Quenga; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren

Ferdinand was a loving and caring person who had a great knowledge of family history and of the island of Guam. He also had a great sense of humor and always liked to joke and tell stories with family and friends. He retired from the federal government as a Marine Machinist from Ship Repair Facility, Guam, on July 26, 1984, and moved to Fairfield in 1987.

Visitation from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a funeral Mass at noon, will be held on Thursday Nov. 8, 2012, at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church, 2700 Dover Ave, Fairfield with Pastor David Fontaine officiating. Interment will be held at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave, Fairfield, following the Mass.

Arrangements are under the directions of Fairfield Funeral Home 1750 Pennsylvania Ave, Fairfield, Calif., 707-425-1041.
