Remembering our beloved.

Ernestine Jackson was born on August 3, 1945, to the proud parents of William and Daisy Bartlett in Newellton, La. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age in Louisiana, and shortly thereafter moved to Pittsburg, California.

She graduated from Pittsburg High School and shortly after high school began her career by working for Contra Costa County and as a union laborer for various construction companies. Ernestine was an exceptional cook who loved to spoil her family by making wonderful meals and the holidays more memorable. Her great sense of humor and beautiful smile will be remembered by everyone who met Ernestine.

In 1993, Ernestine met Wilbur Jackson Jr., and later united in Holy Matrimony in 1999. This union blended two families that were comprised of six girls and three boys. Ernestine was a great wife, wonderful mother and awesome grandmother and she truly loved us all. Our family is better for having her in it.

Ernestine leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband, Wilbur Jackson Jr.; two brothers and four sisters; her children, Michelle Watson(Devon) of London, England; Carla Mills of Fairfield; Kenny Jackson (Pat) of Los Angeles; Kathy Elam (Chris) of Jackson, Miss.; Dottie Jackson of Sacramento; and Marlene McDowell (Carlton) of Homewood, Ill. Her favorite nephew, Robert Darden of Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Joshua Grinstead, TyNisha Huff, Gabrielle Grinstead, Ishale Toliver, JaTaya Toliver, Elijah Simmons, Reagann Toliver, Stephen Ogbolu, Mya Toliver, Jeremiah Ogbolu, Treesa Elam-Respass, Derrick Jackson, Donni Jackson, Christopher Arnett, Monique Elam-Joseph, Timothy Jackson, Tracy Arnett, Tashianna Aguirre, Jerlean Jackson, Willie Jackson, Wesley Jackson, Carlton McDowell Jr., Peyton McDowell, Madison McDowell, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, William and Daisy Bartlett; her sisters, Lizzie Mae Freeman and Bobbie Lee; her sons, Marcus Toliver and Wilbur Jackson III., and daughter, Mia Jackson.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St. Fairfield. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. also at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, followed by a committal Service at Fairmont Memorial Park.
