Erma A. Bradley, 85, passed peacefully on Dec. 26, 2013.
She was born in Columbus, Ga., to Joseph A. and Sallie L. Carter on Jan. 10, 1928.
Erma attended the Columbus Public schools, graduating from William H. Spencer High School, after which she attended Morris Brown College, studying business education.
She later chose to study nursing at The Columbus City Hospital, becoming a registered nurse in 1948. She married Clifton Bradley on Dec. 20, 1952. To this union were born three children, Clifton A. Bradley, Christine R. Bradley and Darryl K. Bradley (who preceded her in death). As a registered nurse, Erma worked in Georgia, Alabama, Connecticut and California, before retiring in Fairfield in 1990, completing a 42-year career.
She is survived by her son, Clifton A.; daughter, Christine R. Bradley; grandchildren, Maiysha LeMelle, Vacaville, Calif., Norlishia Bradley, Huntsville, Ala., Dorian J. Bradley, Sacramento, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Monique and Mason Smith, BreShaun and Breaunna Barkus; and a host of dearly loved family members and friends.
Erma was a proud member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, Calif., since 1975. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the church, 1735 Enterprise Drive, Fairfield, Calif. Interment will take place at Green Acres Cemetery in Columbus, Ga., on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.
