Elvera Azuar Billalon, 93, of Vacaville, Calif., passed away after a long illness on Jan. 12, 2014, in Fairfield, Calif.
She was born in Yolo, Calif., on Aug. 28, 1920, to Joseph and Carolina Azuar. Elvera worked at Basic Vegetable in Vacaville for 25 years before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed being a part of the Solano Sams RV Club. She loved to travel, garden, read and make crafts.
Elvera is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Matthies of Sacramento; son, David Billalon of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Gina Azuar of Sacramento; sister, Eloise Trivitt of Vacaville; granddaughter, Carol Ann (David) Matthies of Rohnert Park and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Tony Billalon; parents, Joseph and Carolina Azuar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Connie) Azuar, Ed Azuar, Manual Azuar, Mariano (Margaret) Azuar; sister, Mary Azuar; brother-in-law, Jerry Trivitt and son-in-law, Howard Matthies.
Donations can be made in memory of Elvera to the American Cancer Society, Kaiser or Sutter Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Aid Society.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, with a funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, both at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery, 522 Elmira Road, Vacaville. Pastor Bob Willse will officiate.
