Elmer Hardin

 July 8, 1939 — March 11, 2014

Elmer William Hardin, 74, passed to his eternal home Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, with his loving family by his side.

Elmer was born July 8, 1939, in Luberton, N.C., son of John and Hazel Hardin.

He married Ella LaVerne Hardin on Jan. 27, 1966, in Reno, Nev., and for 47 years has been the true love of his life.

Elmer retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years of service in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, sports, reading, bowling, shooting pool and fishing.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Ella LaVerne Hardin; his loving son, Steve Hardin and wife Deanna; four grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Amanda and Tyler; great-grandson, Brayden; and siblings, Charles, Betty Jo, Brenda, Judy, Lola and Shelby.

Friends are invited to the visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif. The service of remembrance will be at noon Tuesday, March 18, 2014, also at Bryan-Braker. The committal service, with full military honors, will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon.
