April 29, 1928 — Nov. 11, 2010
Dorothy (Dottie) Johnson, 82, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, after a long battle with heart disease.
Dottie was born April 29, 1928, in Texarkana, Texas, to John and Kaniah Schroeder. The family moved to California in 1934 and eventually settled in Vacaville where she grew up with her sisters, Agatha and Sarah. It was there that she met and married Bill Johnson, her beloved husband of 60 years who preceded her in death.
Dottie was a retiree of MaBell and a longtime member of Suisun Fairfield Congregational Church in Suisun. She was also a member of the Fairfield Garden Club and the Red Hat Society at Merrill Gardens at Vacaville. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and was excellent at both. Her favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her sons, Tom, Chuck (Linda) of Fairfield and Takao Kondo of Tokyo, Japan; sisters, Sarah (Robert) LaPorte of Phoenix, Ariz., and Agatha (Lew) Carifee, also of Phoenix; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her celebration of life on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Merrill Gardens at Vacaville, 799 Yellowstone Drive, Vacaville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the building fund of the Suisun Fairfield Congregational Church, 701 Suisun St., Suisun City, CA 94585.
