Doris Mowrey, 93, a longtime resident of Fairfield, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.
She was born July 18, 1919, in Viola, Kansas. She was married to Troy Mowrey, whose death preceded his lovely wife.
Doris, a real “survivor and a fighter” fell in love with reading books as a way to cope with her struggles as a young child with polio. She was an artist, a bird watcher, loved nature and a hip grandmother who was flexible and able to grow with the times. She had the ability to love and comfort everyone and was loved by all.
Doris grew up on a farm in Kansas, survived the Great Depression, went on to college, worked for Boeing, for an attorney and retired from Solano County.
She is survived by her son, Troy Mowrey; daughter, Susan Jensen; and grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Sarah, Nicholas and Brian. All brought great joy to her through her years.
Private services to be held Monday, Nov. 12, in Wichita, Kan.

Mrs. Mowrey was also such a nice lady. She only got mad at me one time; when Suzie and I would play Barbies we would use all the clean wash cloths as Barbie blankets. I'm so sorry I never went over to visit with her in recent years. I'm sorry for your loss Doug and Suzie. Mary Lou Bowen
