Feb. 9, 1932 – June 3, 2014

Donald David Harper, 82, passed away the morning of June 3, 2014, at home.

Don was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Fairfield, Calif., to Ross and Harriet Harper. After graduating from Armijo High School, he joined the United States Navy and was a gunner’s mate seaman. He was employed with Pacific Bell/AT&T for 30 years. He loved to fish, garden and barbecue. Traveling up the coast with his wife to his family cabin in West Port was one of his favorite things to do. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and had numerous friendships throughout the area.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carol Harper; children, Shiela, David (Betty) Harper, Roxanne (Bob) Doher; David Downing and Christina (Mark) Kitts; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Prather and Jean Vaughter; brother, Dale (Aldene) Harper; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout California.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Committal service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Sacramento National Valley Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Calif.
