Jerry Blomquist

March 8, 1938 — April 24, 2014

A Mass of Resurrection for Jerry Blomquist, 76, of Vacaville will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave., in Vacaville. Fr. Fred Gucor will officiate. Jerry passed away at his home on the morning of April 24, 2014. His final days included spending precious time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Jerry was born at home in Almelund, Minn., to John and Ruth Blomquist on March 8, 1938. He was the second youngest of nine children. Jerry graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science and Technology. He had a long career with RJ Reynolds-Nabisco-Del Monte and for the past several years worked part-time at ABCO Laboratories in Fairfield.

Jerry was very active in the community and his church. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus where he became a 4th Degree Knight this past year and was his council’s treasurer for the past six years. He assisted at Baptismal classes and played Santa Claus for various organizations during the Christmas season. He was also instrumental in assisting with carpentry projects and building public playgrounds throughout Vacaville.

Jerry was a devoted and faithful husband, father and grandfather whose kind ways touched many people’s lives. He will be forever missed and always treasured. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his children, Julie, Tess, Michael and John; and their spouses, John, Jennifer and Karen. He was also the proud grandfather of Gretchen, Michael, Ross, Matthew, Zachary, Mackenzie, Joshua and Madden.
