Dave “Hoot” Gibson passed away on Aug. 7, 2014, at his home. He was 74.

Dave was born in Huntington, W.Va., to Fred and Juanita Gibson. Upon completing high school, he joined the United States Marines and proudly served his country in Okinawa, Japan. After leaving the service, he made California his home, finally settling in Vacaville.

Dave was the Vice President of the Central Bank credit card department for many years. After retiring from the bank, he worked at Holy Spirit Catholic Church before retiring for good. Dave enjoyed camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing and playing softball.

Dave will be truly missed by all his friends and family whom he never hesitated to give a helping hand.

He is survived by his sister, Charlene and Sam Anderson and four nephews and their children, who reside in W. Virginia and Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Fred Gibson.

Please join us in a remembrance and celebration of his life at 1 p.m.  Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville Calif.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
