David Furtado

Dec. 26, 1954 — Aug. 1, 2014

David Furtado peacefully passed away on Aug. 1, 2014, at his home in Fairfield.

He was born in Lowell, Mass., to Thomas and Barbara Furtado. He graduated from Lowell Trade High School.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1972, and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. Upon his honorable discharge, he joined the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 25 years. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, horticulturist and avid baseball card collector.

He leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Sedina Furtado; daughter, Stephanie Furtado; niece, Sheila Villarosa; and former wife of 30 years, Susan Furtado.

A Catholic prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield. Private interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery to follow at a later date.
