Celestino Dela Cruz

April 10, 1925 — Feb. 3, 2014

Celestino “Tinong” Dela Cruz, 89, of Fairfield, Calif., passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.

He was born in Talon, Las Pinas, Philippines, on April 10, 1925.

Celestino served as a Filipino guerilla for the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married Dec. 26, 1963, and remained so for 50 years to his loving wife, Wynena Dela Cruz.

Celestino was a beloved member of his community and could frequently be found repairing the local neighborhood vehicles and caring for his children and grandchildren.

Celestino is survived by his wife; children, Rogelio Dela Cruz, Cecilla Dela Cruz Jimenez, Cynthia Dela Cruz Jereza, Carina Dela Cruz, Carmela Dela Cruz Logartaand Cherry Love Dela Cruz and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave.,  Fairfield, Calif. 94533.

Funeral Mass will be at noon, Wednesday Feb. 12 ,2014, at Holy Spirit Catholic church, 1050 N. Texas St., Fairfield, Calif., with burial to follow at Sacramento Veterans Cemetary, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Calif. 95620.

Arrangements under the care of Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, Calif. 94533.
